Shane Baz To Face Hitters Soon, Brendan McKay Shut Down
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays right-hander Shane Baz (elbow), who had arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow in the spring, is throwing bullpen sessions and could start facing hitters in live batting practice soon. Barring any setbacks, Baz could be ready when he's eligible to return from the 60-day injured list on June 6. On a more ominous note, left-hander Brendan McKay (shoulder), who is recovering from surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome, has been shut down for at least a few days due to soreness in his surgically repaired left shoulder. In other rehab news, reliever Ryan Yarbrough (groin) will make his second rehab start on Thursday for Triple-A Durham. Nick Anderson (elbow) is throwing bullpens, while Tyler Glasnow (elbow) and Yonny Chirinos (elbow) are playing catch.
