3 years agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Shogo Akiyama went 2-for-4 with a double, a run, an RBI, and a steal in a 5-2 win over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday. It has been a slow season for Akiyama, who has found himself as the fourth outfielder thanks to an early-season injury and hot starts by outfielders Jesse Winker, Nick Castellanos, and Tyler Naquin. Naquin has cooled down significantly after an excellent start to the season, however, hitting just .244 with three homers over his past 30 games. Akiyama could start to cut into Naquin's playing time in the second half if his bat can heat up. On the year, Akiyama is hitting .224 with nine runs, seven RBI, and two steals in 85 at-bats.--Matt T - RotoBaller
