Shogo Akiyama Steals Two Bases
4 years agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Shogo Akiyama went 1-for-2 with two walks, two steals, a run, and an RBI in an 8-5 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. Akiyama's eighth-inning single brought Eugenio Suarez around to score in the eventual loss. Overall, the outfielder is hitting just .225 with zero homers, eight runs, five RBI, and six steals but he is starting to heat up at the plate. Over his last seven games, Akiyama is hitting .429 with five walks and three steals. He's not a must-add off waivers at this point but Akiyama is worth monitoring in case he stays hot going forward.
