Shohei Ohtani Allows Six Runs In Loss
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani wasn't at his best on the mound on Thursday as he allowed six earned runs in the club's 10-5 loss to the Rangers. The reigning AL MVP struck out five in his 3 2/3 IP, but he surrendered a pair of walks and six hits including a grand slam to Jonah Heim before getting the hook after 70 pitches. On the other side of the ball, he went 1-for-4 with a double and a pair of strikeouts to slightly improve his BA to .172 as he's still searching for his first homer of the year. Ohtani is now 0-2 with a 7.56 ERA as a starter this season, but managers shouldn't read too much into his early results as he'll look to rebound on the bump next week in Houston.
