Sixers To Take Committee Approach With Joel Embiid Out
3 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (face, concussion) will be sidelined indefinitely after sustaining an orbital fracture during the Game 6 series-clinching win versus Toronto. Without its superstar, the team will need to fill a void at the position, although head coach Doc Rivers indicated he is prepared to take the committee approach. Philadelphia currently has Paul Reed, DeAndre Jordan, and Paul Millsap on the depth chart. Yet, Millsap and Jordan have been held off the floor during the playoffs. With Rivers seemingly high on Reed, the 2020 second-round pick may get most of the work at the five during the upcoming series against Miami while Embiid remains out. During Reed's two starts in the regular season, he averaged 8.0 points, 5.5 boards, 2.0 steals, and 1.5 blocks, so he'll likely be a popular target for DFS managers when the second-round meeting between the clubs begins on Monday night.
