Spencer Dinwiddie Excels In Starting Role
5 years agoBrooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie started in place of Kyrie Irving (thumb) and recorded 24 points on 5 of 11 shooting from the field with one rebound, four assists, one steal, and two blocks. The 26-year-old got off to a slow start but was aggressive when it counted, scoring 20 of his 24 in the fourth quarter and leading the Nets to a win. Dinwiddie got to the free-throw line a season-high 15 times and made 14 of them. He's struggled a bit with his shooting efficiency from the field and three-point range, averaging 41.2/29.5 respectively after shooting 44.2/33.5 last year. Perhaps the Nets will lean on Dinwiddie more with Caris Levert (thumb) and Kyrie Irving hurting.
