Steven Matz Falls Back To Earth Against Nationals
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Steven Matz took his first loss of the season against the Nationals on Wednesday, allowing six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. The lefty served up eight hits and a walk while striking out a pair in the short outing after beginning the season with four-straight stellar performances. His 2.31 ERA and 0.94 WHIP that he entered the contest with have now jumped up considerably to a more self-appropriate 4.00 and 1.15 respectively. It's still too early to tell which version of Matz we'll get the rest of the way, but owners should hang on to him for his next start in Oakland against the A's.
