Steven Matz Inefficient In Loss To Astros
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Steven Matz wasn't his sharpest versus the Astros on Sunday, allowing four runs through 4 1/3 in the club's 6-3 loss. The southpaw started off on the wrong foot by serving up a homer to Jose Altuve to begin the game as he went on to allow eight hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Matz has had an up-and-down 2021 with several superb outings mixed in with games like these, so he's been hard to trust on a regular basis. Overall the 30-year-old has compiled a ho-hum 4.50 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with six wins through 12 starts. He'll be hard to put into lineups when he faces the Red Sox in his next scheduled contest.
