Steven Matz Remains Out Of Mets Rotation Plans
4 years agoNew York Mets left-handed pitcher Steven Matz will not start either game of Sunday’s doubleheader against the Yankees with right-handers Rick Porcello and Seth Lugo getting the nod. Matz hasn’t appeared in a game since Aug. 15, with manager Luis Rojas no longer tabbing him as a starter after posting a 9.00 ERA to begin the year. With no defined role in either the rotation or relief corps moving forward, Matz can be safely removed from all season-long rosters at this stage, with Lugo holding upside as an apparent full-time member of the starting staff after beginning the year in the bullpen.
