2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Steven Matz (knee) was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier on Sunday. At the time, the Cardinals believed it was only a minor knee issue, but that was not the case. The organization has revealed that the left-hander has suffered a torn MCL in his left knee. The 31-year-old will undergo surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the 2022 season. The left-hander wasn't pitching very well this season, but his absence will still hurt the Cardinals' rotation.
