Steven Matz With Solid Spring Outing
5 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz pitched two strong innings on Saturday against the Astros in Grapefruit League play. Matz struck out one and allowed just one hit over two innings pitched. Matz is currently in a competition with Michael Wacha for the Mets fifth rotation spot. Matz went 11-10 with a 4.21 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP and 153 strikeouts in 160 1/3 innings pitched in 2019. If Matz continues his strong spring, he should win the rotation spot, making him worth a selection in deep mixed leagues and in NL-only formats. If, however, the Mets use Matz as a relief pitcher or as a spot starter, his fantasy value will take a huge hit.
