3 years agoBoston Red Sox right-handed pitcher Tanner Houck closed out the team's 4-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday to earn his first save of the year. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit and no walks while striking out two. The 25-year-old could have a chance to emerge as the team's top ninth inning arm, a role the team has struggled to fill this year. Houck began the year in the team's starting rotation, but his last eight appearances have been out of the bullpen and he's excelled in a relief role. Over his last seven relief appearances, he's pitched 15 innings and he's allowed 11 hits, four walks and no runs while striking out 17. He's not a must-add player in competitive saves leagues quite yet, but if you have an open roster spot to take a chance on a potential saves source, Houck is certainly worthy of consideration.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
