Texas Signs Delino DeShields To Minor League Deal
4 years agoOutfielder Delino DeShields has rejoined the Texas Rangers on a Minor League contract with an invite to Spring Training for the upcoming 2021 year. DeShields served as primarily an everyday player for the club from 2015-20 before a trade to Cleveland, which saw him produce a .252/.310/.318 slash line across 37 games last year. Known for his stolen base acumen (four seasons of at least 20 steals with the Rangers) and top-tier speed both on the basepaths and defensively, DeShields could play his way into a full-time deal with a strong spring. Leody Taveras appears to be Texas' future in center, although the Rangers' lack of depth and familiarity could open the door for DeShields to see some early-season at-bats.
