Tim Lincecum Unlikely to Be Ready for Opening Day
7 years agoAs the Texas Rangers prep Tim Lincecum for a return to the majors, they are not expecting him to be available for Opening Day. The former Cy Young winner is attempting a comeback by joining the Rangers' bullpen, but what role he will eventually occupy is unclear until the team can get comfortable with his production. With Matt Bush being placed back in relief, the presence of Keone Kela, and a presumptive closer in place in Alex Claudio, meaningful fantasy production is unlikely for Lincecum early in the season. However, the Rangers' bullpen broke down last season, and all of the names mentioned were unable to inspire much confidence, so a chance remains that the Freak could throw in the ninth inning this season if he returns to form. Do not bother rostering Lincecum at this point, but keep a watchful eye on his progress.
