Tom Murphy Hits Three-Run Bomb Wednesday
3 years agoSeattle Mariners catcher Tom Murphy had the biggest hit of the night for the Mariners Wednesday, a three-run home run that pulled the team within a run of the New York Yankees. Murphy also had a single and a walk in four plate appearances. The home run was Murphy's seventh of the year, and his first since June 1. The veteran backstop has had an unimpressive season, with just a .653 OPS, but he's had a better stretch over his last seven games with a .333/.407/.500 slash line in 24 at-bats. He could be a consideration in two-catcher formats, but he doesn't hold much value in any case.
