Tom Murphy Homers, Scores Twice
3 years agoSeattle Mariners catcher Tom Murphy had his best night of the year at the plate Thursday, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk, and two runs scored against the Texas Rangers. Murphy has had a very rough start to the year, as he's slashing just .157/.219/.371 in 89 at-bats this season, but he's been quietly heating up with a .263/.333/.684 slash line with two of his five homers over his last seven games. Murphy showed plenty of offensive promise in his last full season in 2019 with an .858 OPS and 18 homers in 75 games - perhaps he's on his way to regaining that previous form, which would make him a solid fantasy play at the catcher position.
