6 years agoAfter a runner-up finish at the U.S. Open which included a final-round 63, Tommy Fleetwood is now considered a contender to take home the Open Championship at Carnoustie. It helps that the Englishman holds the course record here, also a 63 that he shot at the Dunhill Links Championship last year. However, Fleetwood says that course he set the record on will be quite different from the one that is played this week. “It is a completely different course. I played it on Sunday and I had never played it this firm or fast. Shots you have hit in the past have literally no relevance." Still, with his showing in the U.S. Open combined with his history and experience here, Fleetwood has to be considered a contender come Sunday.--cmangano
