4 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Trevor Rosenthal earned his first save of the year against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday, making the closer picture even more muddled in Kansas City. Ian Kennedy was thought to be the leading candidate for saves entering the season, but he's yet to get his first save of the year. In Thursday's game, Kennedy entered in the seventh inning while the Royals were up a run, which certainly doesn't inspire any hope that he'll be getting consistent saves anytime soon. Greg Holland, who earned the Royals first and only other save on the season earlier this year, was the winning pitcher in Thursday's game, pitching a clean sixth inning. Bottom line: there's no reason to be confident in anyone recording consistent saves in the Royals bullpen right now.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
