4 years agoCincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson and shortstop Jose Garcia both played integral roles in helping the club reach the postseason down the stretch in 2020, with president of baseball operations Dick Williams confirming Friday that the duo “belong on a big league field.” Stephenson, the club’s No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, and Garcia, No. 6, will both enter Spring Training with the chance to break camp with the club. Stephenson’s path to playing time is muddled by the duo of Tucker Barnhart and Curt Casali, who figure to share catching duties. Garcia has the inside track at the starting job as of now, but the Reds may be active either in the free-agent (Didi Gregorius) or trade (Francisco Lindor) market to acquire an established shortstop.--Jesse Borek
