2 years agoTampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco helped the team defeat the Boston Red Sox 8-4 on Tuesday. He went 1-for-2 with three walks, a stolen base and three runs scored in the game. Franco has now recorded a hit in nine of 10 games since returning from the injured list on June 26. He owns a .261/.305/.404 slash line on the year to go along with five homers, five stolen bases, 22 RBI and 34 runs. Given his upside potential and preseason hype, those numbers are certainly a bit underwhelming. However, there's good reason to expect better times ahead for the 21-year-old. He has a 94th percentile xBA of .307 on the year and has been one of the toughest everyday players in the league to strike out with a 10.2% strikeout rate (97th percentile). It may still be another year or two before his power stats take off, but we should at least see better contact numbers going forward and that will bring more stolen base potential with it.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
