3 years agoTampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash provided an update on injured shortstop Wander Franco (quad) on Tuesday. He said that Franco was moving in the right direction, but that he still needed awhile before returning. It was initially believed that Franco would be out for about two weeks after landing on the injured list with a quad strain on May 31. Cash was asked about Franco's updated timeline on Tuesday and he said, "I don't feel like he'll be back in one (more) week." The 21-year-old is slashing .270/.305/.421 with four home runs, four stolen bases, 19 RBI and 27 runs over 45 games on the year. Taylor Walls and Vidal Brujan will continue to cover shortstop for the Rays while Franco is sidelined.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
