6 years agoChicago Bulls center Wendell Carter Jr. has had the status of his sprained left thumb speculated upon for nearly the entirety of Wednesday, with the sole concrete outcome being that the big man will be held out for Thursday’s contest versus the Denver Nuggets. Some reports have said that Carter Jr. may need surgery to repair the ligament, while others have him as day-to-day for the time being. In the short-term, it appears that Bobby Portis and Cristiano Felicio will fill in, although it’s possible head coach Jim Boylen turns to Robin Lopez if he favors a more traditional center without Carter Jr. The next chance the rookie will have to suit up comes Saturday against Miami, although it’s worth checking back to see the likelihood of that taking place.--Jesse Borek
