Whit Merrifield Doubles Twice In Tuesday's Win

2 years agoKansas City Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield helped the team defeat the Los Angeles Angels 12-11 in 11 innings on Tuesday. He went 2-for-6 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and a run scored in the game. His second double came in the 11th inning of the game and it gave the team an 11-10 lead. He then wound up scoring the team's 12th run of the game on a Kyle Isbel single shortly after that. It's been a strange year for Merrifield, who began the year with a .141/.190/.179 slash line in April. He still has only three homers over 67 games on the season, but he's up to nine stolen bases and he's lifted his season-long batting average to .231 by hitting .264 in May and .269 so far in June.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
