3 years agoThe San Francisco Giants have called up catcher/designated hitter Yermin Mercedes from Triple-A. In a corresponding move, shortstop Brandon Crawford (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list, a move that is retroactive to June 25. Mercedes was claimed off waivers by the Giants a little over a week ago. He is known for being a lefty masher and we all know how the Giants enjoy their split-heavy bats. He is not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds right-hander Tyler Mahle on Sunday. The team has Monday off, but we may see Mercedes in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers southpaw Tarik Skubal on Tuesday. Crawford, meanwhile, suffered a left knee injury this past Tuesday and only played in one game this week after the injury.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
