Yohander Mendez Hit Hard Friday
7 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Yohander Mendez had a terrible first career start Friday. Mendez lasted just three innings, surrendering six earned runs, with two walks while striking out just one hitter. The Rangers gave Mendez a five run lead in the bottom of the first, but things fell apart quickly for the rookie in the second innings. Mendez pitched reasonably well at Double-A in 2017, with a 3.79 ERA in 24 starts. However, this season he has struggled at Triple-A, with a 5.26 ERA. The Rangers are likely to give Mendez plenty of opportunities this season but he is still a long way from being fantasy relevant in any format.
