6 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in his first game as a pro, making a profound statement in his long-awaited debut. His 413-foot blast came in the 4th inning off of Baltimore Orioles starter Dylan Bundy, and the hit registered at an impressive 107.3 MPH exit velocity. Alvarez also took a walk in the Astros 4-0 victory. He is MLB Pipeline's 23rd ranked prospect and had demolished Triple-A pitching to the tune of a .343/.443/.742 slash line with 23 homers, 71 RBI, and 50 runs scored over 213 at-bats prior to his call-up. Alvarez hit fifth and started at designated hitter in this game but could see time in the outfield, as well as first base, moving forward. Yordan Alvarez should be universally owned in all formats due to his immense potential and opportunity to hit in a high-scoring lineup.--Kyle Ringstad - RotoBaller
