6 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo could opt-out of his Triple-A contract with the Rangers on Friday. Unless the Rangers add the right-handed pitcher to their 40-man roster, he could choose to walk away and try his luck elsewhere. Given the state that the Rangers rotation has been in this season it seems likely they will activate him. So far this season at Triple-A, Gallardo has a 3.81 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 49 1/3 innings. However, the Rangers would need to clear a space on their 40-man roster and that complicates the decision. Even if Gallardo is activated Friday, his value is at best a streamer in deep mixed leagues.--Ben Rolfe
