5 years agoMemphis Grizzlies small forward Yuta Watanabe paced his squad to a win Monday over the Utah Jazz in the Summer League opener, going for 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting. Watanabe added nine rebounds and shot 5-for-6 from the free-throw line, while the Grizzlies finished +22 during his 27 minutes on the court. The 24-year-old Japanese lefty logged action in 15 games last season with Memphis, averaging 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. With new opportunities aplenty for a new-look Grizzlies squad in 2019-20, Watanabe is off to a strong start in his quest to getting consistent minutes in the upcoming season.--Jesse Borek
