6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann worked 6 2/3 innings on Wednesday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Rays, allowing 11 hits, four runs (all earned), and one walk while striking out five. He served up two home runs in his outing, a solo shot by Kevin Kiermaier and a three-run bomb in the seventh inning to slugger C.J. Cron. Zimmermann threw 79 of his 105 pitches for strikes and looked to be in control as he only allowed the single run through six innings, but allowing that three-run homer in the seventh wound up costing the Tigers as they fell to the Rays 4-2. This was Zimmermann's first loss of the year, moving his record to 4-1 out of 12 games started. He holds respectable fantasy numbers with a 3.71 ERA and a 61/11 K/BB ratio in 63 innings heading into the All-Star break and can be considered for streaming or deeper leagues moving forward.--Kyle Ringstad - RotoBaller
