NFL Week 6: Thunder Dan's NFL DFS Tiered Rankings (Premium Content)

All other Premium Tools can be accessed on the premium dashboard.

Welcome, RotoBallers, to my official tiered rankings for week 6 of this NFL season! You can find my core plays at RB and WR each week in my Anchors column as well as the rest of my favorites plays in our premium cheat sheet.

The concept behind these rankings is to give you an idea of how to approach lineup building for this week's slate. I will rank all relevant players based on their point-per-dollar value in one of five tiers and then provide notes on each tier explaining how I plan to utilize each tier this week.

Tier 1 is going to have most of my favorite plays and likely a good bit of chalk, but you're not likely going to be able to build too many lineups ONLY using players from Tier 1.

Tiers 2 and 3 are going to have some players you will want to mix and match in lineups, likely at lower ownership than Tier 1.

Tiers 4 and 5 are players that I likely won't have much exposure to that week and are players that you should only consider in large field GPPs if you are going to be mass multi-entering a large number of lineups.

NFL Week 6 - Premium DFS Rankings

  • Rankings are based primarily on DK pricing and are based on points-per-dollar value, not raw points.
  • Core plays are highlighted in green boxes.
  • Bold black font indicates the player is useable in all formats - tournaments and cash games.
  • Bold blue font indicates the player is preferred for tournaments. These are usually lower-owned pivot plays.
  • Red font indicates that I am fading that player, and wouldn't suggest any exposure to them even if you are making multiple builds.
  • If a player is not on the chart, it's likely because they are only a part-time player on offense. I will attempt to update the rankings and notes each week on Saturday or Sunday morning once injury news becomes more concrete.

Tier 1 Notes:

As usual, you would expect Tier 1 to be loaded with the best plays and this is where we are grabbing the majority of our cash plays and taking some big stances in GPPs. I have both QBs from the KC-WAS game here as that game should produce a ton of points and fantasy goodness.

Running back is the most loaded position this week in my opinion and it was hard to pick only five backs that I view as the top point-per-dollar plays. My main cash backs are Henderson, Ekeler, and Hunt but I really like Elliot and Swift in GPPs or even Swift in cash on DraftKings if you can't fit the others.

Davante Adams is in a category of his own this week (and is on most weeks, right?) and is a priority for me in cash. Ja'Marr Chase is my favorite receiver in GPPs this week by a pretty wide margin and then it's probably a tie between Terry McLaurin and Keenan Allen. I have Hardman ahead of Tyreek this week based on price alone, but obviously, Hill has the higher ceiling.

TE is a strong spot this week and there are three guys I have well ahead of the others in Kelce, Andrews, and my man RSJ!

Tier 2 Notes:

Man, this slate is loaded because there are a TON of great GPP plays (and a few cash plays) in tier 2 as well. Let's talk about the other projected shootout this week in the Chargers-Ravens game. I like Justin Herbert and his weapons a bit more than Lamar Jackson. Herbert can be paired with Ekeler and a receiver or two of Allen, Williams, Cook with some confidence as we've seen this Ravens defense really struggle. Kyler Murray is going to be lower-owned than he should be and is a nice GPP play, too.

So many more running backs here that I have a strong interest in with Taylor, Gibson, and Hubbard in really strong spots. Khalil Herbert and Darrel Williams are both cheap backs we can consider for cash if you need salary relief and in good spots of their own.

It really feels like this could be a Brandin Cooks week and he might be my favorite mid-tier receiver on the slate. I know he's not on the cheat sheet this week, but I am telling you here that I am planning on having a lot of shares of him in this spot against the Colts. Pittman feels like a strong play in that game, too, and of course, we already mentioned Tyreek Hill from the KC game, but don't forget about Adam Humphries on the other side as a cheap option, especially if one of the Washington wideouts other than Samuel (who's already out) sits.

Tier 3 Notes:

This is where the player pool usually starts to taper off but there are some guys here I really like and would add to your pool if you are building 10+ lineups this week. Javonte Williams is one of them and it feels like a breakout game from him is coming sooner than later. From that same game I like Sutton quite a bit against Las Vegas and Amon-Ra St. Brown has shown some nice trends the last few weeks and is super cheap. I'm not going down here for tight ends too much, but I like the spot for Higbee against the Giants as most people are going to focus on Henderson and the ground game.

Tier 4 Notes:

I have Tony Pollard marked here as a pivot play only because I think Dallas could just pound New England into submission and he could get some extra fourth-quarter touches in addition to his usual 20% of the rushing volume. I am taking a hard stance on fading Hollywood Brown as I really think the Chargers take him away and force Lamar to funnel targets to Andrews and his other receivers in the short passing game.

Tier 5 Notes:

Most of my fades are down here and guys that I don't see having much upside. I rarely dip into Tier 5 even in my GPP builds and you really shouldn't either, unless you are max-entering and want to grab a small percentage of a player there.

I am simply not going to play Justin Fields until we see him do something, nor do I have any interest in the Houston running game this week (or any week, really).
