NFL Week 8: Thunder Dan's NFL DFS Tiered Rankings (Premium Content)

All other Premium Tools can be accessed on the premium dashboard.

Welcome, RotoBallers, to my official tiered rankings for week 8 of this NFL season! You can find my core plays at RB and WR each week in my Anchors column as well as the rest of my favorites plays in our premium cheat sheet.

The concept behind these rankings is to give you an idea of how to approach lineup building for this week's slate. I will rank all relevant players based on their point-per-dollar value in one of five tiers and then provide notes on each tier explaining how I plan to utilize each tier this week.

Tier 1 is going to have most of my favorite plays and likely a good bit of chalk, but you're not likely going to be able to build too many lineups ONLY using players from Tier 1.

Tiers 2 and 3 are going to have some players you will want to mix and match in lineups, likely at lower ownership than Tier 1.

Tiers 4 and 5 are players that I likely won't have much exposure to that week and are players that you should only consider in large field GPPs if you are going to be mass multi-entering a large number of lineups.

NFL Week 8 - Premium DFS Rankings

  • Rankings are based primarily on DK pricing and are based on points-per-dollar value, not raw points.
  • Core plays are highlighted in green boxes.
  • Bold black font indicates the player is useable in all formats - tournaments and cash games.
  • Bold blue font indicates the player is preferred for tournaments. These are usually lower-owned pivot plays.
  • Red font indicates that I am fading that player, and wouldn't suggest any exposure to them even if you are making multiple builds.
  • If a player is not on the chart, it's likely because they are only a part-time player on offense. I will attempt to update the rankings and notes each week on Saturday or Sunday morning once injury news becomes more concrete.

Tier 1 Notes:

As usual, here's where all the goodness is! If you can make a lineup using only these players, that's an optimal build for cash games or small field single-entry.

I really feel pretty strongly about the top three backs in cash, at least grabbing two of them here. Diggs is the priority receiver for me while A.J. Brown is fast becoming one of my other favorite targets. TE is bleak this week so I have Goedert as the top option, but he's not all that far ahead of the tier 2 guys. At QB, it's Allen and Hurts well ahead of the rest of the field for me with their rushing ability and favorable matchups.

Tier 2 Notes:

What a loaded tier this week! I think it's a great week for GPPs for this very reason as there a lot of good plays here and ownership could be spread around among these backs and receivers. The top-priced backs are in this tier and certainly deserve some GPP consideration, though I like Henry less than Kamara and Ekeler this week.

We have a solid bunch of receivers in this tier as well and I think that position is absolutely wide open this week so mix and match those guys in stacks with their QBs in tournaments or as one-offs.

Tier 2 is where I will grab most of my TE exposure this week, I have most of these guys grouped pretty closely together.

Tier 3 Notes:

By now you probably understand how tier 3 works. There aren't many guys here I want if I am building 5-10 lineups, but also no real fades either. If you're building 20+ lineups, then feel free to dip down here into this tier. I have Brady here because he's expensive but I will never talk anyone off using him this year since Tampa seems determined to let him throw as much as he wants and chase stats. I think the Eagles running backs could be sneaky down here, I am just not sure which of them will get more work or find the end zone.

Tier 4 Notes:

As the season goes along we start to see a lot of the same names pop up in the bottom tiers week after week. We are starting to see which teams are simply not all that good on offense and we are also dealing with injuries across the league. I'm not going to force in players in bad offenses unless it's a great matchup so most of these guys down here are on struggling offenses with neutral or bad matchups.

Tier 5 Notes:

Most of my fades are down here and guys that I don't see having much upside. I rarely dip into Tier 5 even in my GPP builds and you really shouldn't either, unless you are max-entering and want to grab a small percentage of a player there.
