BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 20% of leagues
ANALYSIS: New York Mets starting pitcher Steven Matz has allowed just four runs and 13 baserunners over his last 19 innings (three starts), posting a crispy 23/3 K/BB ratio over that span. This is especially heartwarming considering how rusty he looked in his first start off the DL on Aug. 16, yielding four runs in just two frames.
Though he still has not earned a win in any of these last three outings (thanks Mets), he has serious momentum coming off of an 11-strikeout affair against the Giants heading into Friday’s slated home start against the Phillies. At a minimum, look at Matz in deeper leagues, but there is an argument to be made for him in more shallow leagues as well. It is tough to call him a must-start against the Phillies, but it is likely that he will rack up strikeouts and will not kill your ratios.
