ANALYSIS: Carlos Gomez has finally been exiled from Houston and Colby Rasmus just had surgery on his ear, leaving a trio of young players — Teoscar Hernandez, Jake Marisnick and Tony Kemp — to fill the final void left in the Astros’ outfield. Of that group, Hernandez has been the only mainstay over the past couple of weeks.
Since being called up, the rookie is sporting a .281/.378/.594??? line with three homers, six RBI, and nine runs scored in just 32 plate appearances. The only category Hernandez hasn't lit up is steals, which is exciting because the speed is there— he had 34 SB across two levels of minor league play this season.
