Green Bay Packers wider receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling was one of the most disappointing players in fantasy football last season. The Packers desperately need a viable receiving threat opposite of Davante Adams, and MVS was supposed to be the man to step up, but even with Adams lost for four games and Equanimeous St. Brown placed on injured reserve before the season, he still fell flat on his face. He was a unanimous sleeper last season and drafted as the 46th wide receiver off the board, however, he finished as the WR84 with only 26 receptions for 452 yards and two touchdowns. The 6’4” receiver has all of the potential in the world, testing in the 96th and 97th percentile in the 40-yard dash (4.37) and speed score (117.0), but he has not been able to translate that talent to the NFL. In fact, his snap-count decreased each week as the season went on, and he failed to be on the field for more than 37% of the snaps in any game from Week 10 on. This season, the former fifth-round pick faces a much tougher challenge if he wants any playing time. Junior wider receiver Allen Lazard really emerged in the second half of last year, Devin Funchess was added in free agency, and St. Brown is back. At best, Valdes-Scantling will begin the seasons as the WR5 on the depth chart. The fantasy community has also lost faith in the Packer bust as evidenced by his current ADP of WR184, which is behind players like Dante Pettis, Albert Wilson, and DaeSean Hamilton. Yikes. Despite his explosive speed, MVS is fighting for a roster spot let alone a place on fantasy teams. He should not be drafted in any leagues under any circumstances.
