royce lewis fantasy baseball draft sleepers waiver wire pickups MLB prospects shortstops

Welcome back RotoBallers to our weekly fantasy baseball prospect rankings. We have had several call-ups this week and as a result, the following players who will not be on the rankings this week that have been in the past are Adley Rutschman, Nolan Gorman, Matthew Liberatore, and Roansy Contreras.

Additionally, players who are playing in the minors but graduated from prospect status will also not be in the rankings. These players include Jarred Kelenic, Jo Adell, etc.

For those who are not familiar, below you will find our updated list of the top-25 fantasy baseball prospects rankings to make an impact for the 2022 fantasy baseball season, which RotoBaller will be updating weekly. You’ll find quite a few well-known prospects on the list — as well as some lesser-known players that could nonetheless provide key contributions to your fantasy league teams this season. As always, this weekly list is updated to reflect rest-of-season fantasy baseball values, and near-term impacts that these MLB prospects can make.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings #1-5

Some shake-up happened here due to recent call-ups and demotions. Royce Lewis probably should be at the Major League level, as he hit .308 with two home runs in 11 major league games. With Carlos Correa back, he was sent down. He has played one game at third base and another game in left field in Triple-A. Those are two positions that leave a lot to be desired for the Minnesota Twins at the moment -- at least from plate production. This team is in first place at the moment and will want to compete.

Oneil Cruz is starting to improve at the plate. Looking at game logs, he has only struck out twice this past week. For those stashing him, he could be on the verge of a hot streak that could boost his chances to get called up. Vinnie Pasquantino continues to rise on the list. He is now hitting .275 with 10 home runs and three steals in Triple-A, all with a strikeout rate of just 14.6%. If I were a Royals fan, I'd rather see what Pasquantino can do at the Major League level than continue to see Carlos Santana out there.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings #6-9

This group of players is undoubtedly the next tier. Baz had a rehab assignment in Triple-A where he pitched 2.1 innings, got five strikeouts, zero walks, and allowed just one hit. He is coming along.

Duran has 10 stolen bases in 28 games in Triple-A.

Edward Cabrera, a player I am somewhat skeptical of, could be the next pitcher called up for Miami as Max Meyer has an elbow injury.

Caleb Kilian is a player that is getting some buzz for a spot start at least soon with the Cubs playing a doubleheader on Monday, May 30th, and then another one on Saturday, June 4th. Kilian is playing well at Triple-A with a 1.31 ERA, 28% strikeout rate, and 9.1% walk rate in eight starts this season.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings #10-25

This tier is the most in flux tier. You could make an argument for almost any order in this tier.

Triston Casas had a lot of hype and he doing OK in Triple-A but the numbers aren't jumping off the page for his production there either as he is batting .248 with six home runs in 36 games played.

C.J. Abrams is batting just .173 and has a 25% strikeout rate in Triple-A. The three home runs and three steals in 11 games is nice, but he needs to make more contact. He might be in the minors for a while if he doesn't start turning it around soon.

Max Meyer was set to start in the majors soon, and we will have to see what impact this injury has on Meyer's trajectory to the majors.

Josh Lowe is also not figuring things out in the minors, as he has a 43.1% strikeout rate in Triple-A.

Then there are players in this tier like Gabriel Moreno and Miguel Vargas that if they were playing for another organization might have a sooner ETA. The Blue Jays have two catchers already and outside of an injury, Vargas doesn't have a spot on the Dodgers either.

Honorable Mentions: Ryan Pepoit, SP; Korey Lee, C; Michael Busch, 2B; Pedro Leon, SS/OF; Peyton Burdick, OF; Brennen Davis, OF; Cade Cavalli, SP; Ryan Feltner, SP (starting this Wednesday); Jared Koenig, SP; Jonathan Aranda, 2B; David Villar 3B; Darick Hall 1B
