3 years agoWashington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson (shin) returned to a full practice on Friday and was removed from the final injury report for Week 13 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Gibson has been limited in practices all year due to a stress fracture in his leg, but he hasn't missed any time and has seen at least 19 carries in each of the last three games. In last week's win over the Seattle Seahawks, he had a season-high 29 carries for 111 yards, his first 100-yard game of 2021, and added a season-high seven catches for 35 yards. With pass-catching back J.D. McKissic (concussion) ruled out, Gibson should be in line for another heavy workload against a Raiders defense that is allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to RBs in the last three weeks. Start Gibson everywhere with confidence in Week 13.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 years agoWashington Commanders running back Antonio Gibson is set to assume most of the backfield work in Week 1. Although the 24-year-old was a popular bust pick for many in the offseason, his door to production has reopened due to the unfortunate injury to teammate Brian Robinson. He was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list while recovering from surgery to address wounds sustained during an attempted robbery. The Commanders are starting their season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that ranked near the bottom of the league in run defense last season. Gibson should be started as a solid RB2 with the potential for a large scoring output.--Jack Camenzind - RotoBaller

3 years agoWashington Commanders running back Antonio Gibson still has the trust of his head coach despite some fumbling issues during the preseason and training camp. When asked how he plans to use Gibson, Ron Rivera said, "we're going to give him the football and I have no issue with that." The third-year back will be the lead runner for at least the first four weeks of the season as Brian Robinson Jr. (leg) was placed on the non-football injury list ahead of the team's season opener. Gibson should see the bulk of the carries in the team's Week 1 matchup with the Jaguars, but J.D. McKissic figures to take on more of a role as the pass-catching option out of the backfield. Still, the 24-year-old should be able to return low-end RB2/FLEX value.--Tommy Adamopoulos - RotoBaller

3 years agoWashington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera seemed to name running back Antonio Gibson as the team's top kick returner this year. "You still need to see some more stuff, but you know, I think he is. I do. I think he's done a nice job," Rivera said. Gibson's fantasy stock has been falling basically all offseason, especially since rookie Brian Robinson has looked impressive in training camp. Veteran J.D. McKissic will continue to steal third-down work in Washington as well. The fact that Gibson is working extensively on special teams doesn't bode well for his chances of leading this backfield in touches when all is said and done in 2022. The 24-year-old with fumbling issues has become a volatile RB3/flex in fantasy drafts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 years agoWashington Commanders running back Antonio Gibson had two carries for three yards while gaining 37 yards through the air during Saturday's preseason loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. After struggling in his first preseason game, Brian Robinson drew the start over Gibson on Saturday. While working with the second team, the third-year back mainly flourished as a receiver. On the Commanders' first touchdown drive, the former Memphis Tiger contributed 41 of the team's 84 total yards. If Robinson takes over more on early downs, Gibson may be in line to see a more substantial share of the receiving work out of Washington's backfield. The 24-year-old will look to build on Saturday's performance in the team's final preseason game next Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens. --Jack Camenzind - RotoBaller
