Welcome to the August 17th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 16th games. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Anthony Rendon makes .203 look good. Five HR in six days.
- Bo Bichette news is terrible. Baseball fans need the excitement he brings. Get well soon. Do proper physical therapy, unlike us stubborn old-timers.
- No ace pitcher will keep Anthony Santander (seven) from having a good time at home. Two times around the dance floor.
- Only Max Scherzer can give up five runs and still make the line look good. (7 IP, 5 ER, 10 K).
- Tired of riding the pine, Andrew McCutchen blasts his way into the game. First HR = Positivity.
- Look at the fondness Zack Wheeler has for his old team. 7 IP, 2 ER, 4 K. Win.
- Yonny Chirinos concert doesn’t last long.
- Randal Grichuk (two) & Vlad Guerrero Jr. (three) picking up the pace. You’ll need to even more now.
- Sometimes it’s peaceful out here. Other times it feels like the Austin Meadows (two) commands the surging winds. 445 feet.
- The eighth inning is an “extra inning”? Gimme a break. Wily Adames provides victory with “extra inning” long ball.
- For clarities sake, Brandon Lowe has 4 HR and a .400 AVG vs southpaws. Any questions? Bandwagon doors still open.
- Puny, puny, puny (383 ft). Hefty, hefty, hefty (453 ft). Franmil Reyes (five) caters to all kinds.
- It’s not taking advantage of him if he offers it freely. Francisco Lindor (four) graciously accepts Fulmer’s Home Run offering.
- Jon Berti lies in the shadows. People might have forgotten about him (13% owned). Fifth SB.
- Robbie Erlin isn’t a wizard but he conjured 4 innings of one-hit ball & 5 K.
- Martin Maldonado notices my teams dying of SB. He adds one to help quenches the thirst.
- Justus Sheffield has his moments of brilliance. 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 K vs HOU. TEX next might be easier.
- Ok, Kyle Tucker (two) is our hero. Now slow down on that chasing stuff (39%). The action will come to you.
- Handlebar Randy Dobnak (fourth W) continues to make me uber giddy.
- Wunderbar! Max Kepler (two) with another an urgent telegram.
- Four-straight homers by the White Sox. You’ve heard it, you don’t need me to talk about it. Too late.
- While everyone glamorizes the strong man competition, Tim Anderson downshifts to snag his first SB.
- And I thought Dallas Keuchel (W, 5.2 IP, 2 ER) wasn’t relevant anymore. I tip my trilby to you.
- Josh Lindblom & Jon Lester might convicted of 'Insider Tanking’. Both conveniently allowed five runs. J.L. power.
- Kris Bryant, there are three Norths. Use one and start heading that way.
- Shhh… Joey Gallo swings…448 ft. Well done. Now Ryan McMahon’s (three) turn…451 ft. **The crowd goes wild….nevermind
- I swear Coors is broken. Jon Gray w/ 7 IP, 3 ER, 7 K? It’s impressive and I’m sure it brought a tear of joy to someone.
- This is my confession. I have Rougned Odor on one of my team. Today…today, he made me happy (2nd HR).
- Someone tell me this. Why does Tony Kemp get pulled on the day I add him? I’m digging that .444 OBP and the A’s lineup.
- Uh-oh. Marcus Semien has two taters in two days. Still not a short-season option for me, but the excitement is building.
- You didn’t want Keibert Ruiz (1 HR) in FAAB? Ok, let’s watch from the outside.
- The Corey Seager love fest continues. Light candle number five.
- Holy Cow. If. That is a big ‘If’, but if you started Robbie Ray, it almost looked good. Six walks, though?!
- Hugs, chest bumps, hip bumps, fist bumps, or whatever you do. Do it for Eduardo Escobar (second long sigh of relief)
- Mister, mister. When are the Trent Grisham chronicles coming back? Give it time. The story needs to develop.
- I’m not generally a Ford guy. But I can get behind what Mike Ford is doing (second HR). I might even help push if he breaks down.
- Endgame
- Daniel Hudson (four).
- Aaron Slegers (one).
- Jordan Romano. It doesn’t give reassurance to see 1 ER in 1 IP after I win FAAB.
- Nick Anderson (three)
- Ryan Pressly snags the win.
- Sergio Romo (three). Be happy there are plenty of opportunities in this pen.
- Josh Hader (five).
- Carlos Estevez (one). Jairo Diaz has a going out of business sale. He was giving things away. 0.2 IP, 2 ER, 3 BB.
- Archie Bradley (six)
- Zach Britton (eight). It’s like he’s robbing the place before the owner comes back. Hurry up, Aroldis Chapman.
- The day is a Monday. Use it as a day to start something new and fresh. Get out there and dominate. If you're working from home, step into your back yard/patio, take a deep breath, and invigorate your focus. It's a wonderful day. We are all in it together.
- Get your FAAB ready.
- No Fear, Just Fantasy.
