We have a very tough slate of games this Sunday with a bunch of stud pitchers going and a bunch of marginal starters with great splits in their favor. There also isn't a lot of BvP data to go on so I had to dig DEEP to discover some advantageous hitting match ups. Turns out there are a lot of bellow average Righties chucking who get shelled vs lefties and were going to take that strategy and run with it. I expect a lower than average scoring day so every move is just that more important! As always check the weather and lineups before first pitch!
P: David Price ($7700) On a day where I expect a bunch of pitchers to break the 15-point mark, grabbing a win out of your starter is a must. Vegas has Price as a -210 favorite and and he Looked awfully strong in his first start off the DL with 10 K. The White Sox are extremely susceptible to the strikeout, so I expect Price to match his performance from last start and to pick up the W.
C: John Jaso ($3200) A lot of the big-name catchers sit on Sundays, and with what I expect to be a lower-than-average scoring day, getting 3-4 points out of your catcher might be enough to cash in. Luis Mendoza has also given up a .286 average to left-handed hitters on the season.
1B: Chris Davis ($5500) Davis has been a beast this year, homering a few times a week (or more) over the entire course of the first half. He's homered off of Kuroda each of the last two times he faced him, so I think you've got to make the investment and expect some big points.
3B: Evan Longoria ($3900) Longoria's injury earlier in the year has really driven down his price. You are getting one of the premier power hitters in the game who has been hitting lefties for a .356 average, for a price below $4K? Take that gift and run with it, all the way to the bank!
SS: Didi Gregorius ($2200) He has struggled mightily against lefties, but has all the splits in his favor here as he is a .322 hitter versus right-handed pitching. He's matched up against Roy Oswalt who apparently is still pitching in the majors (if you call a 7.88 ERA with .438 average 750 slugging pct. vs lefties pitching).
OF: Jayson Werth ($4000 ) PICK OF THE DAY I'm going to start referring to Mr. Werth as "All Day Everyday" from now on. He has hit 5 of his 8 homers in only 75 at bats while sporting a cool .360 average during the daylight. Throw in a matchup against marginal lefthander Robbie Erlin and you have a solid pick to perform.
OF: Gerardo Parra ($3100)
Parra hasn't been doing much lately, and we are going to use that to our advantage. His matchup with Roy Oswalt, as detailed above with Gregorius, is stupendelous. Not sure that's a word but that's how excited I am about these D-Backs against the aging former ace.
As always, remember to check your daily lineups before they lock and make sure you are doing your own research, too, for optimal performance! The most successful daily leaguers are grinders who are constantly tweaking their lineups as the day goes on and fantasy news gets released. Good luck today, RotoBallers!
Saves are an important component for many fantasy baseball leagues. Closers are one of the most volatile positions in fantasy baseball, and one of the highest turnover positions in MLB. Each year, closers drop like flies and many MLB teams make in-season changes due to injuries or poor performance. In addition to closers and saves, relief... Read More
