T.J. Watt owners, you know the feeling... I had T.J. Watt in my home league last season. He was constantly checking out of games early with nagging minor injuries, but he must have led every IDP manager who started him to the playoffs. I went back to the well and drafted him early this year.
Week 1 brought back similar feelings. Watt made a sack, three tackles for losses, and an interception before leaving the game late in the fourth quarter.
Only this time his injury is far worse. With a torn pectoral muscle, Watt was placed on the injured reserve. The good news is that he reportedly doesn't need surgery and could be back in six weeks. We can only hope.

Jamal Adams Out for Season
The Seahawks safety can't catch a break. He was getting to Broncos QB Russell Wilson and making pressures, but then he limped towards the sideline and was carted off the field. Now it's reported by Ian Rapoport that he tore his tendon and will require surgery that will end his season.
J.C. Jackson Returns
Jackson made a quicker-than-expected return and started for the Chargers on Thursday Night Football after being listed as a game-time decision. The former Patriots CB made six solo tackles (a solid showing for an IDP CB) and got beat by Justin Watson for a touchdown (a play that doesn't affect IDP scoring).
If you didn't get the news that he was starting, at least you know now that you can release your replacement CB after this week and rely on Jackson for the rest of the season.
Jalen Thompson Injury Update
Jalen Thompson was busy in Week 1 when the Chiefs came to Arizona and threw the ball 39 times. He made nine solo tackles. He'll be busy again this week if he is able to play against the Raiders, who threw the ball 37 times in Week 1. Unfortunately, he hasn't been practicing this week.
He didn't miss a snap last week, but he showed up on the first injury report of the week with a toe injury. Cards defensive coordinator Vance Joseph didn't seem optimistic Thompson would play, saying he was not sure.
The Arizona at Vegas game starts at 4:25 PM EST, so you will have to have another late afternoon, Sunday night, or Monday night S/DB ready if Thompson is a game-time no-go. Eagles S Marcus Epps (available in ~90% of IDP leagues), who made eight tackles in Week 1 and is projected as a breakout candidate, could be a good choice in his MNF revenge game against his former team, the Vikings.
Ed Oliver Injury Update
The Bills' starting LDT left the opening Thursday game with an ankle injury after playing just 18 snaps. He made one QB hit and two combined tackles. He'd be an enticing option if he could line up on Buffalo's strong defensive line for a whole game, but it's not clear if that will happen in Week 2.
He did not practice at all Thursday. Neither did fellow DT Tim Settle. They play the Titans on Monday night, so if their status is unclear Sunday, you should bench them.
Kamren Curl Injury Update
Washington's starting strong safety missed Week 1 and is still limited in practice with a thumb injury.
In his place, second-year S Darrick Forrest had a great game. He made four solo tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups while only allowing a 42.9% completion percentage when targeted. All that made him PFF's top-graded safety of the week.
Forrest is still available as a free agent in most IDP leagues, so you can scoop him up if you are rostering Curl and set your roster before the Commanders' 1 PM EST game against the Lions.
Cole Holcomb Injury Update
The Commanders got more bad injury news on Thursday, as MLB and defensive signal-caller Cole Holcomb showed up on the injury report for the first time. He was limited at practice with a quad injury.
If Holcomb misses the game, it will be a severe blow to the Washington defense, as Holcomb and Jamin Davis were the only two to see any snaps for the Commanders' thin LB unit.
J.J. Watt Injury Update
After missing Week 1 with a calf injury, J.J. Watt was back at practice Thursday, and he says he thinks he could play in the Cardinals' Week 2 game against the Raiders. Watt last played in Week 7 of 2021.
Ja’Whaun Bentley Injury Update
Patriots LB Ja'Whaun Bentley was listed as limited at Thursday's practice with a toe injury he suffered in Week 1. That was progress from Wednesday, in which he did not practice. Bentley made seven combined tackles and a sack last week.
