NBA DFS Value Picks – FanDuel Advice for 1/27

All throughout the 2014-15 NBA campaign, RotoBaller will be analyzing the top NBA DFS lineup picks and providing our expert advice for the best values of the day. Below are our favorite FanDuel DFS picks for January 27th, 2015.

Keep in mind, fantasy basketball is a fickle game when it comes to injured players, so be sure to check all lineups prior to tip-off. If you want to chat about your roster picks, check out the DFS chat room at the bottom of this post.

Best Value Picks for 1/27

George Hill (IND, PG) - $5,200

Hill’s season has been marred by injuries. After a brief return from injury in December, Hill was out for nearly another month due to a sprained groin. However, the Pacers’ intentions with Hill are very clear; he is to become the number one scoring option on an offensively lacking team.

Roy Hibbert failed in his chance to become the go-to big man earlier in the year with the various injuries Indiana had. David West has come back from injury but has not shown that he can carry the burden of scoring night in and night out.

Even though the Pacers are still easing Hill back into the lineup, he has already put up good numbers in the two games he has played since his return. He has averaged 15.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Expect his numbers to jump up in the near future. Hill averages over 20.0 points in in his per-36-minutes averages on the season and should provide plenty of scoring on Tuesday against the defensively deficient Raptors.

Nene Hilario (WAS, PF) - $5,700

The Brazilian big man has quietly become a very good value pick in daily leagues. He has put up great numbers as of late and finally broken out of the consistency issues he had earlier this year. In his last five games, Nene has averaged 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. Pair these great numbers up with Nene’s matchup against the Lakers and you should be able to expect a big night from him.

Nene’s rise in productivity has come from his incredible efficiency from the field. If he can get going early in the game against the likes of Ed Davis and Carlos Boozer on Tuesday, then he can be expected to play more minutes later on in the night. As of now, the Lakers have the second worst defense in the league and allow opponents to shoot 52.0% from the field.

Hassan Whiteside (MIA, C) - $6,000

Whiteside has officially arrived and seized a role in Miami’s starting lineup. Whiteside exploded on Sunday with the first triple double of his career, scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 12 blocks. The Bulls played a post-up offense against Whiteside that allowed him to tally many blocks, but he has the potential to become one of the best big men in the league. His ceiling is extremely high, but for now he can be a poor man’s Deandre Jordan.

Miami’s matchup against the Bucks on Tuesday should provide Whiteside another opportunity to put up great all around big man stats. The Bucks struggle in the frontcourt, and Whiteside’s length and athleticism should be too much for Zaza Pachulia to handle.

In his last 9 games, Whiteside has averaged 12.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game. The potential for another great game will be extremely hard to pass up Tuesday.

Carlos Boozer (LAL, PF) - $5,100

News of Kobe Bryant’s torn rotator cuff has aggravated an already terrible season for the Lakers. However, his injury will mean a boost in value for his teammates from a fantasy standpoint. Who is actually going to do the scoring for the Lakers?

Nick Young seems like the most likely prolific scoring option to lean on, but he just sprained his ankle on Monday during practice. Even though it does not seem to be a long term injury, he may very well miss Tuesday’s game and force Boozer to become the best player on the floor for the Lakers.

Despite being relegated to a bench role by Byron Scott, Boozer has shown to be productive off the bench and should provide good scoring and rebounding even in limited minutes. With Bryant out and Young only logging 8 minutes on the court against Houston on Sunday night, Boozer picked up the offensive load and logged 18 points with 11 rebounds.
