Angels To Use Closer-By-Committee Approach

5 years agoLos Angeles Angels manager Brad Ausmus said he plans to use a combination of relief pitchers Ty Buttrey, Hansel Robles and Luis Garcia in the ninth inning moving forward until Cody Allen turns it around in low-leverage situations. Allen has been bumped from the closer role after allowing at least one run in four straight outings from April 13 through last Sunday, posting a 19.29 ERA with three homers allowed in that span. Ausmus believes the Angels are at their best when Allen is closing, though, so those with Allen on their roster should hang tight for now. Just keep him on your bench while he works out his issues.
