Cal Raleigh Sent To Minors
3 years agoThe Seattle Mariners sent catcher Cal Raleigh and right-hander Yohan Ramirez to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday. In corresponding moves, the Mariners recalled right-handers Penn Murfee and Wyatt Mills from Tacoma and moved infielder Evan White to the 60-day injured list. Raleigh was the team's starting catcher on Opening Day, but since then he's been sharing playing time with both Tom Murphy and Luis Torrens. He appeared in a total of nine games and went just 2-for-24 with a 32.1% strikeout rate and one home run. The catching prospect will see regular playing time at Tacoma and should resurface in Seattle at some point in 2022. In 56 career MLB games, Raleigh has hit just .162, so he could use a bit more minor league seasoning.
