HaoTong Li Grinds Out a Top-20 Finish at the U.S. Open
7 years agoHaoTong Li is having a breakthrough season on both the PGA and European Tour. Li hasn't found himself having tons of success week in and week out, but when he does have notable showings, it has been during prominent events. Li won the Dubai Desert Classic in January and posted a solid T32 at this year's Masters. The 22-year-old golfer from China entered this year's U.S. Open entirely under the radar and looked dead in the water after his nine-over par 79 on Thursday, but he quietly put together one of the best collection of rounds from that point forward. Li fired rounds of 68,74 and 69 his following three days, catapulting himself up the leaderboard and into a share of 16th place. Li's game is still too inconsistent to expect quality finishes weekly, but he possesses some upside at a low ownership percentage every time he tees it up. He is someone to consider as a contrarian GPP option going forward but nothing more for the time being.
