Jabari Smith Jr. Goes Third Overall To The Rockets

2 years agoThe Houston Rockets selected 6-foot-10 forward Jabari Smith Jr. third overall in the 2022 NBA draft. Smith spent just one season at Auburn, averaging 16.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while shooting 42% from beyond the arc. Smith had been widely regarded as the favorite to go first overall to the Orlando Magic, but the Magic wound up selecting Duke forward Paolo Banchero instead, causing Smith to tumble a bit to third overall. Smith is a fantastic athlete with a picture-perfect jump shot. He'll bring a great deal of versatility to Houston and he'll join guard Jalen Green and center Alperen Sengun to make up a promising young trio for the rebuilding Rockets.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
