3 years agoTampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Jason Adam closed out the team's 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday to earn his second save of the year. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing no hits and one walk while striking out one. Andrew Kittredge (elbow), who leads the Rays with five saves on the year, landed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday and he is expected to miss at least a month. Adam is now one of four active Rays relievers with multiple saves on the year. We're likely to see a variety of different relievers utilized in the ninth inning in the coming months.
