6 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester had another terrific performance on Sunday against the Mets throwing seven innings of shutout baseball only allowing two hits and three walks while striking out seven in the win. Lester is now 6-2 on the season with an ERA of 2.44, which sounds great but the underlying data seems to say it has more to do with luck than skill. Lester currently has his lowest K/9 since 2013 and his highest BB/9 since 2011. Lester also has strand rate of 82.9% which is well above his career average and though the ERA is low, his FIP suggests he should be more around the 4.30 mark. Lester has been amazing so far this season, but everything else suggests that it is going to come crashing down. He may be a good sell high candidate if you are able to get elite production in return. His next start comes Saturday against the Pirates.--Steve McCarthy - RotoBaller
