Jose Altuve Toughing It Out In Playoffs
6 years agoHouston Astros manager A.J. Hinch said second baseman Jose Altuve (knee) wouldn't be playing through his injury if it were the regular season. Altuve is serving as the designated hitter for the third straight game in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series against the Red Sox on Thursday. He's picked it up a bit of late at the plate and is now hitting .267 (8-for-30) with two doubles, one homer, four RBI, three walks and four strikeouts in seven playoff games. His injury should give you a bit more pause when considering whether to spend on him in DFS games.

Jose Altuve Out With Sore Shoulder Sunday
3 years agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (shoulder) is out of the starting lineup on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves due to a sore shoulder, according to skipper Dusty Baker. Fantasy managers should consider Altuve day-to-day for now. With Aledmys Diaz (groin) on the injured list, the Astros called up David Hensley from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday. Mauricio Dubon is starting at second base on Sunday and is hitting leadoff against Braves right-hander Charlie Morton. Dubon will have some sleeper DFS appeal out of the top spot in the Astros lineup, but he's hitting just .217/.262/.326 with four home runs, 20 RBI, 23 runs scored and one stolen base in 175 at-bats on the season.

Jose Altuve Back At Second Base
3 years agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (leg) is back at second base on Sunday against Oakland Athletics right-hander Adam Oller after he served as the designated hitter on Saturday. Altuve is also in his customary leadoff spot. The 32-year-old All-Star sat out of Friday's game after being hit by a pitch on Thursday. Although he'll sit out of the All-Star game next week, Altuve should be just fine for the start of the second half of the season. Altuve went 1-for-4 with a strikeout in Saturday's game, and he's hitting .276/.371/.524 with an .895 OPS, 17 home runs, 33 RBI, 48 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 318 plate appearances on the season. Keep him in your starting lineups.
