Kevin Porter Jr. Picks Up Questionable Tag For Monday
4 years agoHouston Rockets point/shooting guard Kevin Porter Jr. (quad) has been listed as questionable to play in Monday's game versus Toronto due to a right quad bruise. Porter's role has fluctuated wildly since joining the Rockets' roster, as he has averaged 21.3 PPG across his four starts, as opposed to just 6.3 PPG in three reserve appearances. With Victor Oladipo (rest) unavailable Monday, Porter would likely draw another start if cleared, although the severity of his injury could stunt his DFS appeal. Check back closer to tip-off to see if Porter is healthy enough to take the floor, as his status will shape the Rockets' rotations one way or the other.

Kevin Porter Jr., Rockets Talking Extension
3 years agoHouston Rockets guard/forward Kevin Porter Jr. is hoping to sign an extension. Both sides are currently in the preliminary stage of discussions. However, considering Porter has had issues surrounding his conduct dating back to his collegiate days at USC, some within the organization aren't interested in keeping him. Unquestionably, the 22-year-old has more than enough talent to justify a new deal. He's averaged 13.7 points, 4.7 assists, 3.9 boards, and 1.0 steals since entering the league in 2019. He can also play multiple positions, which is never bad for fantasy managers. Yet, Porter's shooting numbers aren't the best, and he's seemingly always one wrong move away from being suspended.

Contract Talks With Kevin Porter Jr. May Be Coming
3 years agoHouston Rockets guard/forward Kevin Porter Jr. is expected to enter contract discussions with the team. The 22-year-old can agree to a rookie-scale extension as soon as July 1. But if an agreement isn't reached, he will likely be headed for restricted free agency by the summer of 2023. After starting his career in Cleveland, Porter has played his last two seasons in Houston. He averaged 15.6 points, 6.2 assists, 4.4 boards, and 1.1 steals while shooting 37.5% from deep in 2021-22 throughout 61 games, so without a doubt, he's a proven fantasy producer. His versatility also gives him multi-positional eligibility in most formats. However, he's had conduct issues since entering the league back in 2019, so he may continue to be a nuisance for any organization moving ahead, which could cost him a few games here or there due to suspension.
