Melvin Gordon Looked Rusty In First Game Back

5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon got his first crack on Sunday, and he certainly looked like he hadn't played any football in months. Gordon carried the ball 12 times for just 31 yards, and he regularly struggled to make any headway through the line. The coaching staff and teammates seemed excited about Gordon's return before and after the game, but Austin Ekeler shined once again as he made a whopping 15 receptions out of the backfield when he filled in for Gordon. There's no reason to suspect that the team will shift the focus away from Gordon, but this performance certainly shouldn't give anyone the warm and fuzzies about how Gordon will do for the rest of the year.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
