Niko Goodrum Shines as Miguel Cabrera's Replacement
7 years agoDetroit Tigers second baseman Niko Goodrum had himself a very nice night, going 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in a comeback win over the Minnesota Twins. Goodrum and John Hicks will be platooning starts at first base to fill in for Miguel Cabrera, and the beginning of this new chapter got off to a great start for the duo. Goodrum started at second base in this one and shifted over to first base at the end of the game, meaning he has a chance to gain first base eligibility if he can pile up starts at the position. He's not much of a fantasy asset at this time, however, but he's a player to keep an eye on now that he'll be receiving regular playing time.
